Patricia is a very experienced advocate appearing in courts of all levels. Patricia honed her skills in cross-examination during the first seven years of her career when she practised predominantly in the criminal courts. She ha since developed a specialist practice in all areas of family law. In 2003 she joined Tooks Chambers and developed her care practice further. By representing all parties in care proceedings Patricia has been able to bring her knowledge and experience to the advantage of those she represents. Patricia joined 1MCB in October 2013.
She is a trained family arbitrator.
Patricia specialises in family law with expertise in care proceedings, public law and children, child abuse, and cases with an international aspect.
Patricia is committed to the publicly funded Bar and to providing a first-class service to her clients and prides herself on the client care she provides to both her lay and professional clients. She is frequently instructed to represent parties who have mental heath issues/personality disorders/learning disabilities, who require delicate and empathetic representation.
- Care Proceedings – Patricia has expertise in representing local authorities, parents, grandparents, children’s guardians, older children and interveners;
- Public Law and Children – Patricia is an established family practitioner with particular reference to public law and children. She has particular experience in complex public law and adoption matters as well as matters involving child abuse, serious neglect, physical and sexual abuse, both current and historical, at all levels;
- Multiple Parties – Patricia has been involved in various long running complex care cases involving multiple parties;
- International Aspect – Patricia has been involved in a number of cases with an international aspect, often involving complex immigration issues. Patricia has also acted in international abduction cases involving both Hague Convention and non-Hague Convention countries.
Patricia has given seminars on family law to solicitors and barristers (CPD accredited), participated in the court training of medical professionals and lectured students of the Versailles Bar (in English) on the English and Welsh legal system.
